Sail 4 Wildlife is an event created by World Wildlife Sanctuaries (WWS) to raise awareness and funds to Save Our Koalas from Extinction.

 

World Wildlife Sanctuaries is a not-for-profit organisation and is operated by Volunteers.

In order to publicise the plight of our Koalas, WWS’ founder, Peter Steele will attempt to sail solo, at the age of 82 years, unassisted and non-stop around the world.  His attempt will be a world record as he’ll be the oldest person to do it.

Koalas are rapidly heading for extinction. Humans are the main cause. Deforestation has destroyed their natural habitat, and without it koalas can’t survive. It’s decimated their population, down from 8,000,000 to about 40,000. It’s been happening for a while, but the situation is now critical.
